OOIDA National Call to Action
June 12, 2003
Sen. Jim Talent, R-MO, is encouraging all truckers to contact their U.S. Senators to ask them to cosponsor the resolution he introduced declaring June as “National Truck Safety Month.”
The Senate action, Senate Concurrent Resolution No. 50, or SCR 50, follows a similar effort in the U.S. House – House Concurrent Resolution No. 164, or HCR 164 – initiated by Rep. Sam Graves, R-MO, Rep. Kevin Brady, R-TX, and Rep. James Oberstar, D-MN.
Both resolutions ask President George W. Bush to issue a proclamation commending all truckers for their extra effort this June to comply with truck safety regulations.
It is important that you contact your representative and senators and ask them to cosponsor these resolutions. Tell him/her how you and other truckers across the country have committed to make an extra effort in June to comply with all truck safety rules, and that you would appreciate their support for your efforts by becoming a cosponsor of the resolution.
For your representative and senators contact information visit www.house.gov or www.senate.gov. If you have any questions about these efforts, visit the OOIDA web site at www.ooida.com or call OOIDA headquarters at 1-800-444-5791.
