OOIDA scholarship program announces selection of four OOIDA scholars for the 1999-2000 school year.
OOIDA scholarships are available for children, grandchildren, and legal dependents of OOIDA members.
The Owner Operator Independent Drivers Association, Inc. (OOIDA) is pleased to announce they have awarded the second four scholarships of the OODIA Scholarship Program. The OOIDA scholarship committee selected this year's OOIDA scholars from among applicants from across the country. All applicants wrote a 500 word essay titled, "Highway Safety Tip Designed to Save Truckers' and Car Drivers' Lives." OOIDA scholarships are renewable for up to four years.
The OOIDA scholars for the 1999-2000 school year are:

Brantley J. Berry, son of Donald J. Berry, of Centerville, Indiana. Brantley is enrolled in Tri-State University, and wishes to pursue a major in Electrical Engineering. $1,000 scholarship award. |

Randi Jean Exendine, daughter of Mark Wynn Exendine of Tulsa, Oklahoma. Randi is enrolled at Oklahoma State University Stillwater and wants to pursue a major in Chemical Engineering. $1,000 scholarship award. |

Sheryl Doerksen, daughter of Dan Doerksen, of Reedley California. Sheryl is attending Fresno Pacific University, with a major in Education. $500 scholarship award. |
| Lisa Nicole Ledgister, daughter of Bolvin Ledgister of Peachtree City, Georgia. Lisa is enrolled at Clayton State College and intends to pursue a Pre-Med major. $500 scholarship award. |

The OOIDA Foundation, Inc. Scholarship Program has been assisting the children, grandchildren and legal dependents of OOIDA members in their efforts to gain a higher education since 1998. Annually, OOIDA awards one $2,000/year and four $1,000/year scholarships. The students are selected in a blind evaluation conducted by the Scholarship Advisory Committee.
Awarded scholarships are renewable for three (3) additional years. Tax-deductible donations to the OOIDA Scholarship Program can be sent to the OOIDA Foundation, Inc., 1 NW OOIDA Drive, Grain Valley, Missouri 64029.
OOIDA, the international trade association of professional owner-operators and drivers, is headquartered in Grain Valley, Missouri. Small business truckers represent nearly half of the total class 7 and 8 trucks operated in the U.S.
