OOIDA scholarship program announces selection of year 2008 OOIDA scholars.
OOIDA scholarships are available for children, grandchildren, and legal dependents of OOIDA members.
The Owner Operator Independent Drivers Association, Inc. (OOIDA) is pleased to announce the winners of the 2008 OOIDA Scholarships. The OOIDA scholarship committee performed blind evaluations of all the applications which came in from all across the country. These five scholars were selected as this year's recipients. All applicants wrote a 500 word essay. Scholars were asked to list and discuss three positive aspects of the infuence of the trucker in their lives; how does their choice of an educational goal utilize the strongest attributes of their personality; and to formulate a helpful suggestion for the Association on how to improve the public image of professional truck drivers.
The OOIDA scholars for the 2008 - 2009 school year are:

Hannah Biniecki is the daughter of member Dale Biniecki of Monroe, Michigan. Hannah is enrolled at Saint Mary's College, Notre Dame, IN where she plan to major in Philosophy and Political Science. Hannah was awarded a $2,000 scholarship. |

Samantha Jones is the daughter of member James S. Jones of Wartburg, Tennessee. Samantha is enrolled at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, TN where she plans to major in Public Relations. Samantha was awarded a $1,000 scholarship. |

Erik Logan Reich is the son of memeber Rick J. Reich of Versailles, Illinois. Erik is enrolled at Spoon River College in Canton, IL where he plans to major in Diesel Tractor Technology. Erik was awarded a $1,000 scholarship. |

Rebecca Foster is the daughter of member David Foster of Joplin, Missouri. Rebecca is enrolled at Missouri Southern State University of Joplin, MO where she plans to major in Pharmacy. Rebecca was awarded a $1,000 scholarship. |

Shawn Volk is the grandson of member Thomas Brown of Bismark, North Dakota. Shawn is enrolled at Bismark State College of Bismark, ND where he plans to major in Business Management. Shawn was awarded a $1,000 scholarship. |

The OOIDA Scholarship committee accepts tax exempt contributions from generous OOIDA members, corporate sponsors like Road Law, Land Line Magazine, Owner-Operator Services, Inc., and fund-raisers sponsored by the committee.
