OOIDA's "Land Line Now" Celebrates One Year on the Air
June 6, 2006, Grain Valley, MO -The Owner-Operator Independent Drivers Association's radio program for professional truck drivers celebrates its one-year anniversary June 6, 2006.
"Land Line Now" is America's first daily one-hour news program produced exclusively for the professional driver. The popular daily radio show can be heard on XM Satellite's Open Road Channel 171 at 7pm Eastern and 4pm on the West Coast, with a re-broadcast the following morning at 6am Eastern and 3am on the West Coast.
"Land Line Now" delivers listeners a wealth of trucking news and information, advancing OOIDA's mission of educating and informing truckers.
From hard-hitting coverage of the truckers' perspective of Hurricane Katrina to important regulatory, legislative and safety issues, the journalists of "Land Line Now" and Land Line Magazine have teamed up to bring truckers a comprehensive look at trucking issues and a place to talk about them.
In the process, the show has been honored with awards by the Truck Writers of North America, the Kansas City Press Club and the International Automotive Media.
"I don't know of any other association in the country where you have such a collection of experts right here in the building," says "Land Line Now" Host Mark Reddig. "It really makes our job easier and it's beneficial to our listeners."
Notable guests over the past year have included members of Congress, former FMCSA Administrator Annette Sandberg, industry experts and numerous OOIDA members who have shared their expertise and views on trucking issues.
Founded in 1973, OOIDA is the largest organization of professional truckers in the country, comprised of more than 140,000 owner-operators, professional drivers and small business truckers from all 50 states and Canada.
