Federal Judge Rules in Favor of Truckers in Landstar case
Oct. 13, 2006, Grain Valley, MO – Confusing reports are being circulated about a ruling from the U.S. District Court of the Middle District of Florida, Jacksonville Division, in the class-action lawsuit filed by the Owner-Operator Independent Drivers Association on behalf of truck drivers against Landstar System Inc.
The ruling is actually substantially in favor of the class, which is defined as all owner-operators who are or have been leased to Landstar or its operating companies Ranger, Ligon and Inway beginning Nov. 1, 1998 and continuing through the resolution of the lawsuit.
There are an estimated 27,000 individuals included in the class and potential monetary damages are estimated at more than $42.7 million.
