1/27/03-An Arkansas lawmaker said he plans to introduce a bill that would allow more toll roads in the state, The Morning News of Northwest Arkansas reported.
Sen. Dave Bisbee (R-Rogers) said the bill, which would replace the three current laws governing toll roads in the state, would enable the state highway commission to also serve as the state's toll authority and issue bonds for construction.
The bill would also repeal a requirement that tolls cover 100 percent of the cost of a turnpike. Under his plan, the fees would need to cover only 60 percent, with the rest paid by "cash on hand."
