4/30/03-A
bill that would add to the price of motor vehicle fuels
in California has been pulled from consideration. However, the measure could
come up for
a vote later.
AB1500 had passed the Assembly Committee on Environmental
Safety and Toxic Materials, and was before the Assembly transportation
committee.
The bill calls for $1 to be levied on every barrel of oil made into either
diesel or gasoline fuel in the state. It would reportedly add about 3
cents a gallon to the cost of fuel.
The money raised would pay for environmental cleanup programs.
