OOIDA Call to Action– - Connecticut Members
April 11, 2003

Attention: Connecticut truckers! Legislation in the state Assembly needs your attention.

Under HB6672, tractor-trailers would be slowed from 65 mph to 55 mph on many of the state’s highways. All other motorists would continue to drive 65 mph.

The bill also would authorize automatic photo-radar devices to catch speeders and could possibly close some exits along I-95 for safety reasons.

Similar legislation, HB5982, has been effectively killed for this year.

HB6672 is in the Joint Committee on Judiciary. It is vital you contact the committee members to let them know what split speeds would mean to road safety. For contact information, visit www.cga.ct.gov, or call OOIDA’s membership department at 1-800-444-5791 and they’ll look it up.
