Connecticut

5/22/03 - A second attempt to create a split speed limit in Connecticut is likely dead for this year.
HB6672, which would create a lower speed limit for trucks on many of the state’s highways – 55 mph as opposed to 65 mph for other vehicles – has sat in the House and Senate judiciary committees since being referred April 4.
The bill also calls for automatic photo-radar devices to catch speeders and raises the possibility that some exits on I-95 through the state would be closed for safety reasons.

4/10/03 - Legislation in the General Assembly would create a lower speed limit for trucks on many of the state’s highways.
Under HB6672, trucks would be slowed from 65 mph to 55 mph. All other motorists would continue to drive 65 mph.
The bill also would authorize automatic photo-radar devices to catch speeders and could possibly close some exits along I-95 for safety reasons.
It is now before the Joint judiciary committee. For bill status, call (860) 240-0555.
