Call to Action - Florida Members
March 6, 2003
Attention: Florida truckers! A bill in the state House needs your attention.
Under HB497, daytime lane
restrictions on trucks would be extended to 24 hours a day on I-95 in
Palm Beach County.
Trucks traveling through the county now are prohibited from I-95's
left lane from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. HB497, a pilot project introduced by
Rep. Irv Slosberg, D-Boca Raton, would extend the prohibition around
the clock.
The two-year pilot project would not begin - and citations would
not be issued to truckers - until signs are posted along the highway.
The bill has been referred to the Appropriations, Public Safety and
Crime Prevention, and Transportation committees. It is vital you contact
your state lawmakers to let them know what lane restrictions mean to
road safety.
