5/5/03-SB164, which would require trucks that have been rebuilt, modified, or retrofitted as dump trucks to be titled and registered as dump trucks, has died for this year in the Legislature.
The bill would have prevented the owner of a commercial motor vehicle from getting a title if its gross vehicle weight has been changed.

3/14/03-S164 would require trucks that have been rebuilt, modified, or retrofitted as dump trucks to be titled and registered as dump trucks. The bill also requires the owner to provide proof the truck has been safety inspected by the DOT's Office of Motor Carrier Compliance. It was prefiled in December, and referred to several committees.
The legislative session opens March 4.
