OOIDA Call to Action -
Georgia Members
February 13, 2003
Heads up, Georgia truckers! Legislation introduced Feb. 12 in the state Assembly needs your attention.
Rep. Larry Walker (D-Perry) introduced a measure to
require trucks to travel 10 mph slower than other vehicles on Georgia
interstates.
HB353 would apply the brakes to any truck with more than six
wheels. Under the bill, the split speed would not have to be posted
- truckers
would be expected to know about the new limits, even without
a sign.
The bill is in the House Transportation Committee. It is vital
you contact the committee members to let them know what split speeds
would mean
to road safety. Committee members' contact information is available
at www.legis.state.ga.us/cgi-bin/gl_org_detail.pl?Com=gahtrans.
