6/20/03-A bill that would loosen restrictions on some younger
drivers who have lost their licenses due to speeding violations has died
for this year.
HB185 passed the House March 5 by a 165-2 vote and was given
a favorable recommendation by the Senate Transportation Committee. However,
no further action was taken on the bill before the General Assembly’s
regular session ended.
Under the bill, drivers who are 18-21 years of age and who have
lost their licenses could have applied for a limited license that would allow
them to drive to and from work and school.
5/7/03-The Senate Transportation Committee has approved a bill that would
loosen restrictions on some younger drivers who have lost their licenses
due to speeding violations.
HB185 would apply to drivers 18-21 years of age who have lost
their licenses. Those drivers can apply for a limited license that allows
them to drive to and from work and school.
The bill is now before the full Senate. If it passes the Senate,
it will then go to the governor for his signature.

House has voted for a bill that would loosen restrictions on some younger
drivers who have lost their licenses due to speeding violations.

the Senate, where it has been assigned to the Transportation Committee.
The law would apply to drivers 18-21 years of age who have lost their
licenses. Those drivers can apply for a limited license that allows
them to drive to and from work and school.
