5/29/03 - A
bill that would have punished marine or rail terminals
for making trucks wait in line
more than 30 minutes to enter the terminal has died in the General
Assembly.
HB2563 was an anti-idling measure. The proposal would
have fined the terminals $250 for every truck that was made to idle or
wait in line for more
than 30 minutes. Taking any action to try to avoid the rule would have
resulted in a fine of $750 per truck.
The measure also would have made it a misdemeanor for the terminal to
seek reimbursement of the fine from the vehicle operator.
