5/14/03-A bill that would increase the speed limit to 70
mph on interstates and parkways in counties with a population of less than
75,000 died in committee.
Under HB34, the speed limit would remain 65 mph in counties with
a population of 75,000 or more. Limits on other state highways would be
55 mph.
The bill was still listed in the House Transportation Committee
when the regular session ended March 25.

in counties with a population of fewer than 75,000. The speed limit
would remain 65 mph in areas with a population of 75,000 or more.
Limits on other state highways would be 55 mph and 35 mph in business
or residential districts.
