7/10/03-A bill that would have restricted lane usage for heavy-trucks has
died.
HB1478 would have permitted city governments to adopt ordinances
restricting heavy trucks, weighing at least 5,000 pounds, to the right lane
on all city streets, roads and highways.
Current law does not prevent cities from adopting these ordinances,
but the proposal specifically authorized the ordinances.
The bill was still in the House transportation committee when
the Legislature adjourned June 23.
