11/6/03-A
new state law requires Louisiana to comply with Federal Motor Carrier Safety
Administration
guidelines in the notification of other states when out-of-state
drivers are convicted in the Bayou State of a traffic violation. HB770
applies to
CDL holders, regardless if they are driving a commercial or personal
vehicle.
The law, which goes into effect Jan. 1, 2004, also says that
notification from other states of convictions involving Louisiana drivers
will become part
of the official operating record.
