4/17/03-HB73, a bill that would fine drivers in the left lane who don't move right when a faster vehicle comes up from behind, failed to pass the Assembly before the regular session ended earlier this month.
The measure would levy the fine on the slower driver even if he or she is going the legal speed limit and the vehicle behind is speeding.

2/27/03-HB73, a bill in the General Assembly that would fine drivers in the left lane who don't move right when a faster vehicle comes up from behind, has passed the House of Delegates.
The bill, which earlier this week lost a preliminary vote, came back for consideration and was passed by a vote of 90-49.
The measure would levy the fine on the slower driver even if he or she is going the legal speed limit and the vehicle behind is speeding.
It now moves to the state Senate for consideration. For bill status, call (410) 946-5400.

2/26/03-Ever get stuck in the left lane behind someone who won't go as fast as you want to? A legislator in Maryland had proposed a bill to help you out.
Unfortunately, HB73 lost a preliminary vote in the state's House of Delegates Feb. 25.
The bill would fine drivers in the left lane who don't move right when a faster vehicle comes up from behind - even if the first vehicle is going the legal speed limit and the vehicle behind is speeding.
However, the bill's supporters, who fell just shy of passing the measure in the House, won a vote that would bring the bill back for another vote as soon as today.
For bill status, call (410) 946-5400.
