8/19/03-A bill that would have permitted
police to stop drivers for failure to buckle up is dead.
HF1150 called for creating a primary law for seat belt enforcement.
Under current law, police cannot ticket drivers for seat belt violations
unless the driver is pulled over for another traffic violation.
The bill was in the House Transportation Policy Committee when
the session ended.

in the Minnesota House.
