4/4/03-Rep. Lynne Osterman, R-New Hope, has proposed legislation that would privatize rest areas.
HF1446 would allow the Minnesota Department of Transportation to lease rest areas to private companies.
"The commissioner of transportation shall solicit proposals for lease or operation and maintenance of each rest area by a private entity," Osterman wrote.
The bill is in the Senate Transportation Finance Committee. Similar proposals – HF1414 and SF1355 – are in committees.
