bill requiring big rigs to drive slower than other vehicles on state
roadways has died.
SB148 would have required trucks more than 24,000 pounds to travel 5 mph below
the current posted speed limit.
Trucks traveling on rural interstates and freeways would have been limited to
65 mph, from 70 mph; 60 mph on rural expressways and 55 mph on urban interstate
highways, freeways and expressways; down from 65 mph and 60 mph, respectively.
The bill was in the Senate Transportation Committee when the regular session
ended May 17.
