4/24/03-Sen. Jon Dolan, R-Lake St. Louis, tabled legislation April 16 after several Senate members attempted to add amendments to his bill.
The Senate Transportation Committee combined SB381, SB384, SB432 and SB9 on March 12 into a Senate Committee Substitute bill.
The substitute bill – SCSB381 – would have required the use of headlights when conditions required the use of windshield wipers; restricted trucks from driving in the left lane; and changed several other safety requirements for child restraints, boating, and bicycles.
Approved by the committee and sent to the Senate floor March 20, the substitute bill was amended 12 times with seven additional proposed amendments either rejected or withdrawn.
One proposal from Sen. Ken Jacob, D-Columbia, would have raised truck registration, permit and CDL fees.

4/17/03-SB381 would require drivers to use their headlights whenever rain, snow, fog or other atmospheric conditions require the use of windshield wipers.
The bill has been sent to the Senate floor a vote. For bill status, call (573) 751-3824.

Sponsored by Sen. Jon Dolan, R-District 2, SB381 requires the use of headlights whenever rain, snow, fog or other atmospheric conditions require the use of windshield wipers.
The bill was referred to the Senate Transportation Committee Feb. 4 and a hearing was held Feb. 11. For bill status, call (573) 751-3824.
