7/17/03-A proposal to ask Missouri voters to reconsider
their 2002 rejection of higher fuel taxes has died.
SJR12, sponsored by Sen. James L. Mathewson, D-Sedalia, sought
to raise the fuel tax by 4 cents, with the additional revenue being
use exclusively for the payment of state road bonds.
The bill was in the Senate Transportation Committee when the
regular session ended May 17.
1/28/2003 - Sen. James L. Mathewson (D-Sedalia) introduced a bill to ask Missouri voters to reconsider their 2002 rejection of higher fuel taxes. Mathewson's SJR12 seeks to raise the fuel tax by 4 cents, with the additional revenue being use exclusively for the payment of state road bonds.
