9/25/03-Lawmakers failed to pass legislation this year that would
have allowed individuals purchasing a permit to exceed size, weight
or load limits for a motor vehicle to obtain both the permit required
by the Nebraska Department of Roads and the local county at the same
time and place.
Under current law, an individual must obtain a state permit,
and then if a county permit is required, must travel to that particular
county to obtain the permit. LB497 would have provided that the state
permit and any required county permits could be obtained at the same
time and location.
It was in the Transportation and Telecommunications Committee
when the regular session ended May 30.
