New Jersey

1/13/04-A bill intended to give the state more control over the agency that sets tolls and manages bridges over the Delaware River connecting New Jersey and Pennsylvania has died.
A3197 would have required the Delaware River Joint Toll Bridge Commission to hold public hearings in both states before increasing tolls. It also ordered the commission to provide both governors with detailed annual financial reports.
The measure was awaiting consideration before the full Assembly when the session ended Jan. 12.

10/20/03-Assemblyman Reed Gusciora, D-Mercer, wants the state to have more control over the agency that sets tolls and manages bridges over the Delaware River connecting New Jersey and Pennsylvania.
A3197 would require the Delaware River Joint Toll Bridge Commission to hold public hearings in both states before increasing tolls.
The measure, which passed the Assembly Transportation Committee before being forwarded to the full House for consideration, also orders the commission to provide both governors with detailed annual financial reports.
If signed into law, the provision must also be approved in Pennsylvania due to an interstate agreement that requires each state and Congress to adopt identical laws regulating its operation.
