5/30/03-A legislator’s proposal to take
up to $1.2 billion from the state’s teacher retirement system to pay
off debt belonging to the Oklahoma Transportation Authority is dead for the
year.
HB1377 would have allowed the teachers to be reimbursed by using
toll revenues from the state’s turnpike system.
The measure failed to make it out of the House Appropriations
and Budget Subcommittee on Select Agencies before the Legislature adjourned
May 30.
3/28/03-An Oklahoma

HB1377, authored by Rep. John Wright, R-Broken Arrow, would then allow
the teachers to be reimbursed by using toll revenues from the state's
turnpike system.
However, the House Appropriations and Budget Subcommittee on Select
Agencies rejected the measure.

1/23/03-An Oklahoma
lawmaker has proposed legislation to snag up to $1.2 billion from the
state's teacher retirement system to pay off debt belonging to the Oklahoma
Transportation Authority.
HB1377, filed by Rep. John Wright (R-Broken Arrow), would then allow
the retirement system to be repaid by using toll revenues from the state's
turnpike system.
