below the posted limit. SB331 also prohibits tractor-trailers from
driving in a highway’s left lane.
The bill was in the Senate Transportation Committee when lawmakers

3/28/03-Sen. James
Williamson (R-Tulsa) has introduced a bill to slow down big rigs on
state roadways.
Under the measure, trucks would be required to travel 10 mph below the
posted limit. SB331 also prohibits tractor-trailers from driving in
a highway's left lane.
"A truck-tractor may be driven in the left lane only when overtaking
and passing another vehicle ... in the same direction, when the truck-tractor
does not impede traffic, and passing can be completed within one mile," Williamson
wrote.
The bill is in the Senate Transportation Committee. It is vital
you contact the committee members to let them know what split speeds and
lane restrictions would mean to road safety. Committee members'
contact information is available at www.lsb.state.ok.us/senate/welcome.html.
