7/2/03-A bill that would give the Pennsylvania
and New Jersey governors authority to veto Delaware River Joint Toll
Bridge Commission actions within 10 days after receiving certified
commission meeting minutes remains in the Senate State Government Committee.
Sen. Lisa Boscola, D-Bethelem, introduced SB527 in the Senate
in March, but it has not yet moved past the committee level.
The commission, which maintains and operates seven toll bridges
and 13 free bridges between New Jersey and Pennsylvania, exists under
an interstate agreement that requires each state and Congress to adopt
identical laws regulating its operation.
