6/2/03-A bill that would have required drivers
to keep their hands off the phone has died.
HB281, introduced by Rep. Paul Moreno, D-El Paso, called for
banning hand-held cell phone use while driving. Talking on a phone equipped
with a “hands-free” device would still be permitted.
The proposal was in the House Committee on State Affairs when
the regular session ended June 2.
