10/24/03-Gov. Rick Perry signed legislation during the regular session allowing counties to propose truck lane restrictions on certain portions of the state highway system.
SB514, authored by Sen. Jon Lindsay, R-Houston, also removes the existing workday and peak traffic hour limitations on lane restrictions and allow s the restrictions to apply to two or more lanes.
The bill requires any lane restrictions proposed by a county to be approved by the Texas Department of Transportation. Municipalities already have the authority to propose such lane restrictions with TxDOT approval.
