3/24/03-Gov. Mike Leavitt signed off on a measure March 24 authorizing a task force to look at transportation needs and funding for the next 10 and 20 years.
HB310 creates a transportation planning task force and authorizes a one-year study of the issues.
The task force reportedly will look at transit issues, such as commuter rail and bus service, as well as highway construction. It will also look for ways to fund the needs, such as raising fuel prices.

3/11/03-The Utah Legislature signed off on a measure last week authorizing a task force to look at transportation needs and funding for the next 10 and 20 years.
HB310, sponsored by Rep. John Dougall, R-American Fork, was approved March 4 in the Senate by a 25 to 0 vote. It passed the House the next day by a 53 to 4 vote.
The legislation creates a transportation planning task force and authorizes a one-year study of the issues.
The task force reportedly will also look at transit issues, such as commuter rail and bus service, as well as highway construction. It will also look for ways to fund the needs, such as raising fuel prices.
It now goes to the governor's desk.
