6/7/04-Gov. Bob Riley signed a bill into law eliminating the state’s 2-cent-per-gallon inspection fee on diesel fuel.
The new law, previously HB317, replaces the fee with an apportioned excise tax.
It also requires out-of-state truckers, who previously paid 17 cents per gallon for fuel, to pay the same 19-cent fuel excise tax as in-state truckers.
The new law takes effect Oct. 1.
