2/26/04-Gov. Janet Napolitano signed a measure to ask Maricopa County voters in November for a 20-year extension to the half-cent transportation tax to build new roads, widen freeways and expand the Valley’s light-rail system.
The measure previously gained passage in the House on a 50-8 vote and Senate 25-3.
HB2456 would include $2.3 billion for light rail in addition to $9 billion for freeways, $1.5 billion for street improvements and $2.3 billion for buses.
