2/4/04-Fresno Mayor Alan Autry is proposing making state Highway 99 the longest toll road in the state. The proposal is designed to cut back on pollution and help raise funds to repair the road.
Highway 99 runs through the San Joaquin Valley, from the area east of the San Francisco Bay southeast, eventually landing in the northern portion of the Los Angeles area.
The proposal would have to be approved by the California General Assembly to move forward.
