9/27/04-The House Transportation Legislative Review Committee approved a proposal Sept. 23 that would extend the state’s existing Good Samaritan Law preventing a person from being sued if they provide assistance in an emergency situation.
Under the proposed legislation, current law would be amended to cover not only the person providing assistance, but if the rescuer were a company driver, the company and its equipment also would be protected.
The panel voted to introduce the bill once lawmakers return to the Capitol for the 2005 legislative session that begins Jan. 12.
