3/10/04-The House of Representatives voted down a bill that would give the Division of Motor Vehicles the authority to renew driver’s licenses and identification cards through the mail and over the Internet.
The measure did not establish specifics for the program, instead leaving those decisions up to the secretary of transportation.
SB156, sponsored by Sen. Margaret Rose Henry, D-Wilmington, was rejected 31-6 on Jan. 22. It previously passed the Senate.
