6/30/04-Gov. Jeb Bush signed a bill into law June 29 authorizing the construction of the Wekiva Parkway in Central Florida.
The new law, previously S1214, authorizes the completion of Orlando’s beltway while preserving nearly 10,000 acres of sensitive land and elevating the expressway over wetlands and wildlife corridors in the Wekiva River basin.
4/26/04-The House voted 113-0 April 23 to approve a bill that would authorize the construction of the Wekiva Parkway in Central Florida.
S1214, sponsored by Sen. Lee Constantine, R-Altamonte Springs, passed the Senate 38-0 April 22. It now heads to Gov. Jeb Bush, who is expected to sign it.
