OOIDA Call to Action - Georgia Members
July 13, 2004
Dear Georgia member,
You have a very unique opportunity to help your industry and to help yourself and your family in the process.
U.S. Rep. Mac Collins is running for the U.S. Senate seat of Zell Miller, who is retiring.
You very likely have a lot in common with Mac Collins. He got into trucking right out of high school driving old trucks in the daytime and working on them nearly every night. He knows trucking from the same perspective as you - and he would make a great senator for Georgia, but he has to get elected first.
Mac needs your help to get elected. The first primary election takes place on July 20. Running against Mac on the Republican ticket is another Georgia representative, Johnny Isakson, and businessman Herman Cain.
Mac has been a steadfast supporter on issues important to you. No one has worked harder to push for common sense emission regulations for truck engines.
Mac is on our side in opposing efforts to turn interstate highways into toll roads. And he will work hard to see that U.S. customs and immigration laws are enforced on foreign trucks that enter the U.S. because of NAFTA.
And of course Mac knows first hand how high fuel prices create havoc in trucking; the need for a sound energy policy and the need for truckers to be able to offset fuel costs when they rise rapidly.
Mac will make a great senator for Georgia, a great senator for trucking and a great senator for you. Let's get him elected.
Please get out the vote for Mac Collins, U.S. Senate on July 20. Encourage family, friends, anyone and everyone you know to vote for Mac.
