11/11/04-Idaho Gov. Dirk Kempthorne is mulling over a new transportation plan for the state.
On Nov. 8, Kempthorne told the North Idaho Chamber of Commerce he’s considering better ways to link regions of the state now isolated from one another.
He declined to identify what each project is – except that U.S. 95, the old Goat Trail that connects northern and southern Idaho, will be part of the plan.
More details are expected when Kempthorne addresses lawmakers at the start of the next legislative session on Jan. 10.
The governor’s office and Idaho Transportation Department have been working on a plan to borrow money to pay for infrastructure demands. But the governor did not specify how he figures to pay for the road work.
