OOIDA Call to Action - Illinois Members
March 4, 2004
Heads up, Illinois truckers! You need to contact your state representative now about a proposal to eliminate the state's split speed limit.
SB2374 would eliminate provisions in Illinois law that set up a slower speed on rural interstates for vehicles over 8,000 pounds. Under the bill, all vehicles would face a 65 mph speed limit.
The full Senate approved the bill Wednesday, March 4 by a 37-15 vote. SB2374 now heads to the House for consideration.
It is vital you contact your state representative and let him/her know the importance of uniform speeds to road safety.
