1/20/04-A bill that would phase out an unpopular fee is likely to be considered in this year’s General Assembly.
HB852 would restore the rolling stock exemption to its original form by July 1, 2006, and finish phasing out the Commercial Distribution Fee by that date as well. In addition, a per-trucking-employee tax credit passed last year would also be phased out, by Jan. 1, 2007.
The bill passed both houses of the General Assembly last year, but the Senate must still concur with House amendments. For bill status, call (217) 782-5799.
