4/1/04-The Senate Transportation Committee unanimously approved a resolution March 31 that would ask the U.S. Congress to keep the current limitations on the size and weight of trucks.
SR168, introduced by Sen. George Shadid, D-Pekin, now moves to the full Senate.
A member of the upper chamber must still call for a vote on the resolution for it to be approved. The measure is a non-binding resolution, in essence a request from the Senate to federal officials; it does not have to be approved by the House, and it does not carry the force of law.
For Senate bill status, call (212) 782-4517.
