7/15/04-Gov. Kathleen Blanco July 14 signed off on a $4.3 billion construction budget for the state.
The plan, previously HB2, is regarded as mainly a wish list of projects since the state is limited in the amount of money it has to spend in the new fiscal year, The Times-Picayune reported.
It contains a multiyear construction plan for state buildings, highways and legislators’ pet projects. Since the state only has about $33 million to spend on new projects, the construction budget leaves most of the power with the Blanco administration to determine which projects actually get lines of credit from the state Bond Commission.

6/24/04-The House gave final approval June 21 to a $4.3 billion construction budget for the state.
The plan, already signed off on by the Senate, now heads to Gov. Kathleen Blanco.
HB2, sponsored by Rep. Bryant Hammett, D-Ferriday, is regarded as mainly a wish list of projects since the state is limited in the amount of money it has to spend in the new fiscal year, The Times-Picayune reported.
The measure contains a multiyear construction plan for state buildings, highways and legislators’ pet projects. Since the state only has about $33 million to spend on new projects, the construction budget leaves most of the power with the Blanco administration to determine which projects actually get lines of credit from the state Bond Commission.
