7/13/04-Gov. Kathleen Blanco has signed a bill into law authorizing the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development to make the final decision on raising the speed limit on portions of Interstate 10.
The new law, previously HB50, allows the DOTD to decide whether to raise the speed limit from 60 to 70 mph along I-10 from Interstate 510 eastbound to the St. Tammany/Orleans parish line.
Sponsored by Rep. A.G. Crowe, R-Slidell, the measure states that the highway agency “shall make a final decision regarding the maximum speed limit” for the stretch of roadway. It also requires the agency to make the decision no later than Sept. 1.
