5/17/04-A bill that called for imposing criminal penalties on drivers who fail to yield the right-of-way and cause accidents resulting in injury or death failed to gain passage before lawmakers adjourned for the year May 16.
HF2447, sponsored by Rep. Dale Walz, R-Brainerd, would have made the highest-level criminal penalties a gross misdemeanor with up to 10 years imprisonment, a $20,000 fine, or both.
It was in the Judiciary Policy and Finance Committee when the session ended.
