7/8/04-Gov. Bob Holden signed legislation June 25 instituting staggered registration for commercial motor vehicles.
The new law, previously HB928, impacts trailers and those power units registered under the International Registration Plan. It also allows registration for such vehicles on the first day of calendar quarters. Fleet registrants will be given their choice of quarters initially. Those who fail to choose a quarter will remain on calendar-year registration.
Transitional registration periods are to be between six and 18 months.
