7/22/04-A bill that would have authorized state, cities and towns to build high-occupancy vehicle lanes has died.
S1090, sponsored by Sen. Clark Jenkins, D-Tarboro, remained in the House Transportation Committee when the session ended July 18, effectively killing it for the year.
The bill would have dedicated the lanes for cars with two or more passengers.
An identical House bill – H1360 – met the same fate.

6/11/04-The Senate unanimously approved a bill June 8 that would authorize the state, cities and towns to build high-occupancy vehicle lanes.
S1090, sponsored by Sen. Clark Jenkins, D-Tarboro, would dedicate the lanes for cars with two or more passengers.
It now heads to the House for consideration. For bill status, call (919) 733-7779.

5/18/04-A bill before the Senate Committee on Judiciary would authorize the state, cities and towns to build high-occupancy vehicle lanes.
S1090, sponsored by Sen. Clark Jenkins, D-Tarboro, would dedicate the lanes for cars with two or more passengers.
An identical bill – H1360 – is in the House Committee on Transportation.
