7/27/04-A4260 has been merged with the bill’s Senate version – S1876 – which has been forwarded to Gov. George Pataki.
6/8/04-A proposal designed to protect police and other emergency personnel during roadside stops is in the Assembly Codes Committee.
Under A4260, sponsored by Assemblyman William Magee, D-Nelson, drivers would be required to reduce speed when approaching an emergency vehicle parked by the road with their lights flashing.
Violators would be subject to a fine up to $100 and/or 15 days in jail, as well as two points on their license.
An identical Senate bill – S1876 – is awaiting consideration before the full Senate.
