OOIDA Call to Action - Oregon Members
August 17, 2004
Attention: Oregon truckers! The Oregon Department of Transportation will hold five public hearings around the state next week regarding recommendations for speed limit changes on the state's rural interstates.
If you are available to attend any of these meetings, it is important you take the time to voice your opinion on this effort.
Public comments are intended to aid the Speed Zone Review Panel and the Oregon Transportation Commission implement HB2661, passed during the 2003 legislative session.
HB2661 gives the Transportation Commission authority to raise the speed limit on sections of interstate highways to 65 mph for trucks and 70 mph for cars. Those limits are currently 55 and 65, respectively.
The commission is expected to make a final decision Sept. 30.
