OOIDA
Call to Action - Pennsylvania Members
March 3, 2004
Heads up, Pennsylvania truckers! Your congressional lawmakers need to hear from you.
You may have received a Call to Action recently informing you the U.S. House and Senate are crafting legislation that would fund our nation's transportation system over the next six years.
Both bills will contain provisions that would permit, even encourage, states to impose tolls on existing interstate highways.
This action is extremely important to you in Pennsylvania because the state Transportation Commission is already discussing when and how to start collecting tolls on Interstate 80 as a way to raise revenue. PennDOT, however, would need permission from the federal government to charge tolls on I-80 because the road was built with federal funds. The highway reauthorization bill now being considered on Capitol Hill would give them that permission. Share your concerns with your lawmakers in Washington, DC.
